Midas Construction have specified Cygnus Wireless Fire Alarm systems on their project to turn Europa House in Portsmouth into student accommodation. The temporary fire alarm system incorporates 28 Cygnus Fire Alarm call point units, 2 Cygnus Fire & First Alert Alarm units and 18 radio-linked heat detectors which are all wirelessly connected to a main Control Panel. There are 18 floors, 6 of which will remain as overflow car park for Gunwharf Quays. On each floor at each stairwell a Cygnus Alarm is positioned with the control panel being situated in the site office which is located on ground floor.
This project is expected to be completed in summer 2017, and will provide 242 high beds in a range of studio, 2, 3 and 4 bed apartments. The high quality accommodation will have some of the best views in Portsmouth, looking out over Gunwharf Quays, Spinnaker Tower and the historic dockyard.
Stuart Properties Ltd will be responsible for the redevelopment whilst Midas Construction Ltd are the principle contractor.
