Focus on Ballymore’s Goodluck Hope

This project has to be one of the most exciting projects London has seen! It’s not a Skyscraper but it something else; its building the most exceptional river community.

You’ve probably never heard of Goodluck Hope before, however, its certainly not a new name. It’s a famous name in maritime history and there are records of ships being unloaded there as early as 1297. It was once part of East India Docks and imported goods such as tea, spices, indigo, silk and Persian carpets were stored in warehouses on the site. It was not only shipping that occupied the area, a community of multi skilled manufacturers were founded here; from glass makers to seed crushers. More recently a variety of architects, sculptors and artists, as well as designers and the like have moved to the area and some are housed in ‘container cities’ built using recycled shipping containers.

Goodluck Hope project is an island development inspired by London’s industrial heritage and renowned creativity. Main contractor Ballymore are incorporating into this vibrant new community: 804 new homes, 2000 sqm of commercial space, 235 sqm of education space, its very own brewery and a restored Grade II-listed Orchard Dry Dock. This extensive project will be part of the significant regeneration of the Docklands riverside, injecting new life and vivacity in the neighbourhood as well as creating hundreds of brand new job opportunities.

Due to the complexity of the project, Ballymore required a reliable and adaptable temporary fire alarm system to help them protect workforce and property during construction. The Cygnus Alarm System is also protecting Ballymore’s site cabin set up at Orchard Place, Goodluck Hope, which consists of some 40+ cabins. The Cygnus system is the most reliable wireless fire alarm system that has been designed for use in the construction industry and has protected hundreds of construction projects globally.
